Jiaoying Summers is a comedian with more than one million TikTok followers. Born in China’s Henan Province, she made headlines when, after joking about China’s one-child policy, TikTok banned her account. After defending her right to discuss a policy that affected her directly, the Chinese company reinstated Summers to its video hosting platform. Summers broke into comedy by posting “Funny Mom” videos that explored through humor her challenges in combining motherhood with a comedy career. A regular performer at the Laugh Factory and Hollywood Improv, Summers owns The Hollywood Comedy and The Pasadena Comedy venues that she opened in an effort to bring more diverse voices to the stage. Summers is the Asia Ambassador for Operation USA and was a speaker at the 2021 UN Women Commission on the Status of Women event. She attended University of Kentucky and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and children.
