Singer-songwriter Daniel Pak is frontman of Kore Ionz, a Seattle band that has shared the stage with many legendary reggae names. As co-founder and executive director of Totem Star, he is a champion for the voices of young recording artists in the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Pak spent his childhood listening to reggae and uplifting island melodies. The Seattle Weekly describes his voice as “birthed right in the heart of New Orleans, with enough jazz and heart to lead a Jamaican revolution of peace and love.” Beyond his work with Totem Star providing young people with a safe and inclusive space to create music and build community, Pak also serves on the Seattle Music Commission as Chair of the Youth + Community Committee, as a Governor for the Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Recording Academy, and as a Trustee for The Bush School.

Daniel Pak at Founders Gala 2022

“Think about the meaning of a totem. The idea of a totem is universal global concept that’s a symbolic representation of your heritage. It represents knowing who you are and where you come from. Reclaim your roots to know how special you are, however you want to self identify.”

– DANIEL PAK
