Tia Carrera is a Filipina-American actor known for such blockbuster films as Wayne’s World, and a two-time GRAMMY award-winning musical artist. Born Althea Rae Duhinio Janairo in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was discovered in a grocery store there and cast in her first movie in 1988. She soon catapulted to stardom through such popular films as True Lies, opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Rising Sun with Sean Connery. Carrere’s first solo album, Dream, was released in 1993 and went platinum in the Philippines. That same year, she was featured on the soundtrack of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Carrere focused on Hawaiian music with her second album, Hawaiiana, created with her long-time friend, artist/producer Daniel Ho. Their acclaimed records reached number ten on Billboard’s World Music Chart. Carrere won a GRAMMY in 2009 for her album 'Ikena. In 2011, she won her second GRAMMY for her album Huana Ke Aloha.
