Julia Gouw is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of East West Bank. She was ranked one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Banking” five times by American Banker magazine and has received the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Women Making a Difference” award two times in recognition of her achievements and philanthropic contributions.

Julia is a member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Life and VIZIO (NYSE: VZIO). She is also the Chairwoman of the board of Piermont Bank, and was named “Top 30 Asian American and Pacific Islander Board Members in the U.S.” by BroadProspects. Gouw is a champion of advancing Asian representation in entertainment. Alongside Janet Yang and Coalition of Asian Pacific in Entertainment (CAPE), she funded the Julia S. Gouw Short Film Challenge. She was honored as an “Entertainment Game Changer” at Asia Society Southern California’s 2021 U.S. Asia Entertainment Summit, and is a Board of Trustee of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. In 2024, Gouw was inducted into Asian Hall of Fame, and established the Julia S. Gouw Asian Women In Entertainment Prize, the first prize in the United States endowed specifically to support Asian women. Born and raised in Indonesia, Gouw came to the United States in 1978 where she earned her B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
